In these trying times, filled with pollution and chaos, we all need a glimmer of hope for a better future. The addition of 100 new buses to Delhi's fleet is exactly that and is surely a step in the right direction when it comes to taking Delhi's public transport system to the next level. Needless to say, the buses will also play an active role in bringing down the pollution in Delhi, along with other modes of public transport. Here's all you need to know about the newly added buses.

What's the update?

On Thursday, around 100 buses were flagged off by the Delhi Chief Minister. These buses are all low floor and state of the art additions to the existing fleet of buses. Apart from just adding to the fleet of buses, they also serve the purpose of expanding Delhi's public transport network as a whole and combating the current air pollution situation.

In case you thought that was all, hold on to your hats. These 100 buses are just a part of a larger scheme, in which the plan is to induct a total of 3000 new buses. Of these, 1,000 are expected to be electric buses, making it the largest installation of electric buses ever.

What features can you expect on these buses?

Since the entire new fleet of buses is going to be state of the art, one can expect loads of beneficial features on the buses. All 100 buses come equipped with GPS scanners for positioning and safety of passengers, along with CCTV cameras for increased security.

Additionally, they also come with panic buttons for those in need and hydraulic lifts for the differently abled. Each of these buses comes with a seating capacity of almost 37 passengers, which is not taking into account the number of standing passengers. On paper at least, it seems like the buses should make for comfortable travels even along long distances.

Knock Knock

Delhi is already well known for its amazing public transport system. The metro and DTC buses take Delhiites to all places around the National Capital and is one of the best in the entire country. The addition of 100 new buses to the fleet is another great step in the right direction and we can't wait for the new electric buses to streets.
