In the past few months, marketplaces in Delhi have undergone major changes. From becoming pedestrian only markets to becoming more eco friendly- these changes are not only changing the shopping habits of people, but are also paving the way for other markets in the city. One such area is Janakpuri and very soon, it will have a multilevel parking lot that will ease up the traffic situation and will make travelling within the lanes an easier task.

For a long time now, the traffic condition at Janakpuri has been deteriorating and it is high time that something was done about this. One of the major reasons behind the traffic snarls was the issue of wrongly parked vehicles that would block oncoming and incoming traffic on both lanes on the road. Not only did this lead to massive choke points, but also resulted in safety issues for residents of Janakpuri as a whole.

As part of the upcoming change to Janakpuri, the goal is to have a full fledged multilevel parking in the area. It will ensure that parking on the sides of roads is kept to a minimum and that the roads are finally clear of illegally parked vehicles, making way for pedestrians and moving traffic. In addition to that, we can also expect wider roads.

The multilevel parking itself is going to be massive and will house up to 7 floors, each of which can accomodate about 20 cars each, bringing the total up to 135 vehicles. With the new parking lot, the SDMC will also draw in added revenue which will help them in keeping the parking lot maintained.

Additionally, other multilevel parking lots are also cropping up all over the city. One such example is that of Green Park, where the parking lot is mostly complete and should be open for use very soon.
