Delhi metros Pink Line will now be connected to Dhaula Kuan metro station via a 1.2km long skywalk. The skywalk, a massive over bridge for foot commuters, will connect Dhaula Kuan, a station on the airport line to Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus Metro Station, which is a major station on the Pink Line.

Dhaula Kuan metro station is one of the most crowded metro stations and going to the Pink Line Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus Metro Station from the airport line is a chore in itself. With the sky walk, it will become much easier for commuters to change stations and metro lines.

The skywalk will be equipped with travelators, CCTV cameras and even a partial roof for protection from bad weather. The new skywalk will make changing lines hassle free. Additionally, it will reduce interchange times significantly, as earlier, commuters would have to get separate transport to reach the pink line station.

Earlier it was estimated that construction would be complete by September, but authorities say that due to the ban on construction activities the skywalk will now be open to commuters by the end of this month.

This is not the only skywalk that will be functional. Earlier this year, PWD had also opened another skywalk in ITO where they expected a footfall of around 30,000 pedestrians daily. The Pink Line skywalk is also expected to have a similar footfall and we are eagerly waiting for it to go public.
