Knocksense: A local content and recommendations platform

The recently launched Noida-Greater Noida Aqua Line Metro has come as a blessing for residents of these cities. An issue that it faces however, is that there is no direct interchange station from Blue Line to the Aqua Line. In order to tackle this, plans to make the interchange more convenient are afoot and pathways will be developed for the same.

Why make a walkway?

As of now, the Aqua Line sees a rather dwindling footfall. This can largely be owed to the fact that there is no direct interchange station from Blue Line to Aqua Line or vice versa. In turn, commuters have to exit the stations, take a third party means of transport to the next station and get on the Aqua Line. They also have to go through the security and check in processes for a second time.

The goal of the walkways is to eliminate the need for the long detour and make a more convenient interchange system. Currently, commuters have to walk almost an extra kilometer to get to Aqua Line or Blue line stations. With the help of the walkways, the two metro stations will be connected from within, making the interchange less time consuming.

Details of the walkway

The walkways will be constructed from Noida Sector 51 station on the Aqua Line to Noida Sector 52 station of the Blue Line. The walkway will be 300-meters in length, of which 75-meters have already been constructed. Additionally, there will also be carriageway for e-rickshaws which will take you from one station to the other. The e-rickshaw carriageways are especially beneficial for the older commuters of Delhi Metro.

Who will it benefit?

The upcoming change will benefit the commuters, residents, office goers and students. They can make use of the 300-meter long walkway to seamlessly interchange metro routes and also get to their destinations faster. As for residents and frequent commuters, they no longer have to exit the station and take a time consuming walk. The change will also benefit the Aqua Line itself as it could lead to a rise in the footfall and ridership of the metro.

The Aqua Line metro has seen a ridership of over 3 lakhs in just the first month. With the upcoming development, the numbers could rise, while adding benefits to the commuters. In other news, the Blue Line metro will also get an extension all the way to Electric City Noida, thereby making the city better connected.
