With the festivities just around the corner, there's no mistaking the spirit and gaiety of Diwali. It's rather easy to immerse yourself in the spirit of the festival, with the moholla houses being lit up and children running around. If you're looking for something more, however, then head to Connaught Place in Delhi from 26th October and check out the mesmerising sound, light and laser shows that truly encapsulate the spirit of the festival of lights.

What's happening?

At the Diwali fest in Connaught Place, one can expect a whole lot of lights, sound, music and the embodiment of what Diwali is. Experience four nights of extravaganza as the popular marketplace comes to life with laser shows, lights and specially curated plays to bring alive the magic of Diwali. Happening from 26th October to 29th October at CP, the extravaganza is going to be, quite literally, lit.

What can you expect?

The mainstay of the show is the fact that the organisers wish to get people in the Diwali spirit without going the usual Diwali way- bursting crackers or causing a dent in the already rising pollution levels.

The sound and light show will take place mostly within the inner circle and it will also be pedestrianised. Though this is merely a plan, it sounds like a good one. The aim, to ensure a pollution free and environment friendly Diwali will be fulfilled with the help of light signals which will be put up all across the marketplace, spreading the message. Hopefully, many of the visitors will see it and change the way they celebrate Diwali.

What's more is that the outer circle will get an entire light and laser based entrance gate, so people know exactly where to go to for the light show. This is going to be a Diwali celebration unlike any you've ever seen, so head over and get the festivities on. As for the light show itself, infrastructure required is being set up now, including a 40 foot high laser light!

Knock Knock

For many of us, Diwali is nothing more than getting together and bursting hordes of crackers. This sound and light show at CP is one that is spreading the message of a clean, eco-friendly festival and it is a message that should be heeded by each one of us.

Date: October 26-29
