If you’re a resident of Delhi’s CR Park, then you must be heaving sighs of relief but if you don’t know why you should be relieved, here’s what’s happening! Some of the residents under the authority of CR Park Green Community Initiative have tied up with the Public Works Department and Delhi traffic police, to make their streets more viable for when the traffic jams strike.

Approximately 2 kilometers long, Bipin Chandra Pal Road, which falls under the CR Park area will be moulded into a ‘model street’ and this venture will ensure organised traffic movement here. In addition to that, it will make for a better shopping experience as well.

This became a necessary task as the inauguration of metro stations on the Magenta Line and Sarita Vihar underpass created hurdles for pedestrians on a daily basis. The increased number of vehicles, illegal parking habits, bustling market crowds amidst other occurrences have made this locale into a nightmare.

This stretch is one of the busiest roads in CR Park and the it is majorly frequented by commuters on their way to Greater Kailash and Alaknanda. With the help of the model street initiative, we can expect fewer jams and faster moving traffic. There’ll also be a designated lane for cyclists and non-motorised vehicles so that Delhizens can take an evening walk or maybe jog on this expanse in the mornings!

According to PWD officials and the members involved in this project, the plan contains inclusions such as the construction of an obstruction-free footpath, more of street lights, reflectors, traffic signals and blinkers, installation of street signages and markings as per standard street guidelines! Finally, the pathetic state of CR Park roads will be turned on its head.

BTW, pedestrians and drivers will be charged a challan if they defy the rules because the cops are becoming even more vigilant in this region so keep a watch.
