With the IPL on in full swing, it can be easy to lose sight of the international cricketing scene. But for all the cricket aficionados, there’s some good news. After the IPL is over, you can look forward to the ICC Cricket World Cup which will begin from the end of May. Since it is around the corner, the BCCI will announce the final Indian team on April 15.
The team will be picked by the BCCI next Monday, which is eight days before the deadline set by the ICC to submit the names and details of team members who will play in the ICC world cup. The BCCI is opting to choose the team well in time so that preparations for the same can begin as soon as possible.
With the IPL in full swing, players are in form and regularly playing competitively. During the selection period, the IPL will be at the halfway mark, ensuring that all players are well into the spirit of the game.
The earlier the team is formed, the better it will be for players as they can begin planning their strategies and formulating plans to go forward with the tournament. It is likely that the World Cup-bound players will choose their IPL games post team selection.
The league is due to get over on May 12 and the Indian team is slated to play its first warm up game against New Zealand on May 25. The ICC world cup will begin on 30th May, bringing to the viewers another great spell of high class competitive cricket.
We are very excited to see the outcome of the IPL and are eagerly awaiting the cricket world cup. The best part is that once the IPL is over, we won’t be left high and dry for another great cricket competition.
