All Delhi Metro lines to have the first coach reserved for women

Until now, the first and the last coaches of all the trains used to serve as the women coaches depending upon the ‘up’ and ‘down’ line, with this new system uniformity will be maintained throughout all lines while making the commute more smooth.

The first and the last coaches at terminal stations of Line 1 (Dislhad Garden to Rithala: Red Line), Line 5 (Inderlok/Kirti Nagar to Brig. Hoshiar Singh: Green Line), Line 6 (Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh: Violet Line), Line 7 (Majlis Park to Mayur Vihar Pkt-1 & Trilokpuri-Sanjay Lake to Shiv Vihar: Pink Line) and Line 8 (Botanical Garden to Janakpuri West: Magenta Line) were alternately used as ladies coach.

With the new system in work, ONLY the first coach in the moving direction of Delhi Metro trains will be reserved for women. This has to be followed on all lines except Red, Metro officials clarified that the same rule will be followed on the Red Line as well once the line it is extended up to Ghaziabad.

“The required announcements for the same will be made on stations and in trains to ensure smooth transitions,” a DMRC official was quoted saying.
