Going through the doors of Rajiv Chowk and finding your way into an empty metro is a pipe dream. The traffic at Rajiv Chowk is something we all dread, there is a common saying, “You don’t get into the metro train from Rajiv Chowk, the crowd pushes you in”. With such words adorning the infamously crowded station, finding your way through a platform at Rajiv Chowk metro station is now more feasible.
To help with crowd management and ensure passenger safety the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has finally installed platform screen doors at the metro station.
Why the need?
The crowd at Rajiv Chowk is no joke. The footfall is so intense that certain times people have to shove themselves in the train and hope that the doors don’t close at their faces. There have even been instances of the crowd being so intense that they push each other inside and out of the metro, a stampede or an accident is extremely probable in such a scenario.
To make sure that the crowd situation does not escalate or prove dangerous, the screen doors are extremely beneficial. They not only help with crowd management but also ensure passenger safety.
We are often made familiar with instances where troubled people have hauled themselves against moving trains, people fallen onto the tracks by accident, one where a woman jumped on the tracks to retrieve her ₹2000 note.
Keeping such incidences in mind, the platform screen doors will prove to be extremely significant, especially in avoiding fatal accidents and dangerous situations.
