The Delhi government been doing their best to make the city more eco-friendly than ever before. From making use of electric buses to setting up shared cycle and e-scooters in multiple locations, they are on the fast track to make Delhi green again. The latest such move comes in the form of e-car chargers that have been set up at Delhi’s South Extension and a few other places.
This comes as a great sigh of relief to Delhiites as many of them are shifting towards a more eco-friendly fuel for their vehicles- electricity. The lack of charging points across the city was an issue that they had to tackle but now, the city is slowly becoming more accomodating of these new practices.
The e-Car charger at South Extension is just one of the many that have popped up across the city. Other car charging stations are already present at areas such as Khan Market, Yashwant Place, Lutyens’ Delhi and a 84 more locations in the city.
To make use of these charging stations, users have to download an app called “ElectriFi”, which is linked to all these car charging points across Delhi. Using the app, owners of electric vehicles can book a time slot or even start the time when they connect their cars to the charging station.
The charging stations are fully equipped with RFID tags and SMS OTPs, which will ensure authentication and safety when charging your car. The app will also be used to get an idea of the fare that one would pay.
The authorities are constantly striving to make electric cars mainstream. Though there are enough charging stations across Delhi, they plan to make more so that once the technology catches up, there is no lack of infrastructure.
This move is a great step in the right direction as it heralds an era of a cleaner, greener Delhi. Residents know that the city could do with some cleaning up and this is one of the best ways to do so. In fact, the trend of electric cars is also picking up and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for Delhi.
