The elections are here, Delhi will cast its vote on May 12, Sunday. The fate of the country and our future now rests in our own hands and the hands of the people we are going to vote for. The pressure is high and with the increasing pressure we are finally feeling the gravity of our own decisions. With so much to think about and options to pick from, here’s what you should focus on instead of the agenda news and videos circulating online.

P.S. We are not trying to influence your decision in any way our force our own propaganda down your throat in the name of information.

1. Make sure to check your name in the voter list and go out to cast your vote

Ahead of the polls in Delhi, here are 5 things you need to be aware of

There is nothing as important as this- make sure to check out your name in the electoral voters list and go to cast your vote. The list has the names of all eligible voters, their place of voting and all other necessary details. People often overlook the electoral roll and don’t go out to vote, which leads to a fall in the overall vote percentage. You can check for your name in the list here.

No matter what your political views and whoever you support, casting the vote is the primary thing that should be on your mind.

2. Know the party behind the candidate

Ahead of the polls in Delhi, here are 5 things you need to be aware of

Knowing the candidate behind the political party and the political party behind the candidate is an extremely important thing. Often, people do not know their candidates completely, they only care about the political party associated with the candidate, or the vice versa.

It is extremely important to understand the fact that no matter who the candidate is, if the political party isn’t the one for you, then in the long run even the candidate’s efforts will deem useless, especially when we are talking about a government in the center.

3. Make sure that the candidates promises line with their previous work

Ahead of the polls in Delhi, here are 5 things you need to be aware of

Politics is a game of promises, make sure you aren’t just played by what a political party or a candidate promises. Promises need to line up with the actions. The old saying: ‘Action speaks louder than words’, is a classic for a reason.

Judge your candidate on the basis of what they do and not what they say; make sure to check their previous decisions and what steps they have taken actively in order to fulfil or even try to fulfill the promises they made before.

4. Understand the needs of Delhi

Ahead of the polls in Delhi, here are 5 things you need to be aware of

Delhi is the capital of the country, the melting pot of cultures, people and ideas. Make sure that the candidate and the political party you pick, know what they Delhi wants. For example, if you want a party with better policies on issues such as education, women security, pollution and/or anything that you find pivotal, make sure that the political party and the candidate feel the same way.

5. NOTA is also an option

Ahead of the polls in Delhi, here are 5 things you need to be aware of

The headline is enough. People often don’t go out to vote because they are disappointed with the candidates that are in the run. Just know that voting for no-one is also an option. If the NOTA votes go above 50% the Election Commission will have to conduct once again. Now, that might seem like a far-fetched dream, yet we have to fulfill our duty as a citizen of the country. So it is better to vote NOTA (none of the above), than nothing at all.

So, there you have it. These are all the things that you have to keep in mind before casting your vote. So go out and vote Delhi, just make sure to take the necessary selfie after, because selfie nahi upload kiya toh vote diya ki nahi, hame kya pata.
