If you want to celebrate Diwali with a bang, don't forget to buy these crackers!
We all understand the harm crackers do to the environment but for us Indians, Diwali is incomplete without lighting an anaar or fuljhadi. When we think Diwali, crackers and lights, are the first few things that come to mind.
Well, in the past few years, much awareness has been created regarding the hazards of crackers and the number of crackers being burnt also came down significantly but that's not all.
Amongst the several attempts that have been made in order to make crackers less harmful, is this newest attempt by the Delhi government. If you are planning to buy new crackers this Diwali, you can opt for the new, eco friendly crackers that will hit the stores in Delhi soon. You should surely expect a more eco friendly Diwali as crackers with QR codes and special logos go on sale very soon.
This time, the Delhi government is taking no chances with pollution. They are seriously trying their best to reduce pollution as much as possible. The first major hurdle for them will be crackers during Diwali, that will cause the pollution to rise.
The primary pollutants following Diwali happen to be PM2.5 and PM10 particulates. Both of these are released when one lights up a cracker. With so many crackers being lit at the same time, there is no wonder that Delhi faces such an immense air pollution problem.
The new QR code based crackers, are expected to cut down on the pollutant factor when compared to your average crackers. The crackers have undergone proper emission testing and are certified for emitting 30% less pollution than the unmarked ones.
As per reports, nearly 70% of cracker manufacturers have received emission testing ratings from the respective authorities. Along with that, their crackers have become safer and more environment friendly.
These crackers, if they kick off, will certainly herald a cleaner way of celebrating Diwali. This is something that was the need of the hour and for the past several years, the cracker menace in Delhi was only increasing.
Though these new eco friendly crackers will cut down on the pollution factor, there is no denying that the only way to celebrate the occasion without dirtying the air is to not use crackers at all but, where's the fun in that?
This is a great initiative by the state governments. In fact, even non Delhiites can make use of these crackers as they will be available in many more cities, as we get closer to Diwali. At any rate, these crackers will surely ensure that this season, the air isn't alarmingly polluted.
