Hindon Air Base, Delhi's new airport is here to ease the travellers!
The recently inaugurated Hindon airport will soon be open to flights run by private companies. As per information by AAI, it could start operating flights from sometime early in October. Since Delhi's IGI airport sees a massive footfall on a daily basis, Hindon airport will help in clearing out some of the traffic from there. Read on to know all the details about flights from Hindon airport.
After a long wait, flyers from Delhi can finally take flights from Hindon airport starting October when small private airlines such as Heritage Aviation and Star Air will start operations to places across the country. A few of these include Hubli in Karnataka and Pithoragarh in Uttrakhand.
However, the mainstream flyers will have to wait for a while as they will only start to trickle in once bigger airlines such as GoAir and IndiGo introduce flights from here. Though they will act as soon as possible, IGI seems ample for their needs. Add to that the fact that the closure of Jet Airways earlier in the year cleared up loads of slots at IGI airport, leading to more open spots for these airlines.
As of now, GMR has plans to make only 80-seater planes operable from the recently inaugurated Hindon airport. Since the bigger players usually make use of planes with seating capacities up to 180 passengers, it could be a while before we see flights from these airlines at Hindon.
Asia's largest Air Force Base is going to be a boon for residents of Ghaziabad, some areas of Noida and a few areas of Delhi. Hindon airport will be a salvation for flyers from these areas since IGI airport tends to be rather distant from these places.
Flights from Hindon airport are scheduled to begin from October 08, 2019.
