Delhi, the national capital is a melting hot pot of all sorts of activities. From factories to millions of vehicles and various modes of transport, the city has it all. But often times, it takes a toll on the city and the residents, leading to harmful amounts of toxic wastes. Now, to tackle the issue of the growing waste and its toxicity, Delhi will soon get its first toxic waste management system in Bawana.

What’s the update?

The issue of toxic waste in Delhi is no new issue. In the past, the number of factories and industrial areas in and around the city have constantly been growing. Owing to this, the toxic waste that is ejected by them has also grown and usually, these industries tend to dispose of the waste into the rivers and sewers, where it is not treated. This in turn breeds diseases and other health issues. With the help of the Hazardous Waste Treatment, Storage and Disposal facility, the city can bid adieu to these issues.

The toxic waste treatment facility will come up in Bawana, an area located in the outskirts of Delhi. With the help of the facility, the waste can be properly treated and then be disposed off in a manner that it doesn’t affect the environment in a harmful manner.

Why the need?

The need for such a facility is no mystery. With the growing industrial areas, cars and public transport in Delhi it is high time that the city had such a waste treatment center. Pollution in the city is, as of now, rampant and the toxic waste only adds to all of that.

Currently, the waste is burnt or is dumped in the municipal landfill, where it takes a toll on the soil, rendering it useless for further usage. With the new treatment center, the waste will be carefully disposed off, thereby curing the city’s pollution crisis in the long run.

New Delhi is a city with developments coming up here and there and this one has us pumped up for the future of the city. Not only does it promise a better, cleaner future, but also paves the path for new technologies in the field of waste management in the city.
