What’s the update?

The recently inaugurated Aqua Line has already brought much convenience to Noida and Greater Noida residents. Now, the Blue Line, which connects to the Aqua Line will be extended all the way up to Electronic City in Noida, making the area better connected. The expansion will add 6 new stations to the existing metro route.

Currently, the Aqua Line goes all the way from Noida to Greater Noida while the Blue Line only goes up to Noida City Center. The Blue Line extension will cover areas in Noida that Aqua Line does not have in its route, thereby making for seamless and interchange free metro commutes. This expansion plan has been in the books for quite a while now and inspections for the upcoming Blue Line will be underway from March 04.

What’s the extended route?

The upcoming route will be completely elevated and will cover 6 centrally located areas of Noida. Additionally it will also be a blessing for the working class in the Sector 61 and Sector 62 office complexes.

The extended metro route will expand the Blue Line to make the total length of about 56-kilometers. The expansion comes as part of Phase-3 of the metro extension route. Along the extended route, it will cover areas such as Sector 34, Sector 52, Sector 62, Sector 61, Sector 59 all the way up to Electronic City, making travelling in the city a hassle free and cheaper experience.

Whom will it benefit?

As mentioned, it will benefit residents and office workers across Noida. Not only that, it may prove beneficial to the Aqua Line commuters as the route suffers from a lack of last line connectivity and interchange stations to the Blue Line. As part of the upcoming metro extension, authorities plan to make a 300-meter long walkway to provide easy interchange. As of now, no date for the launch of the route has been announced, but the inspections will begin from March 04.
