The much awaited Noida-Greater Noida connectivity project, Aqua Line Metro, has the residents of Delhi NCR much exited and full with anticipation as it is supposed to make the commute much less taxing.
The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC)’s metro line which was supposed to be a New Year’s gift for the daily commuters of Delhi NCR, has been stalled for quite some time now and the travelers are getting impatient by the minute.
Aqua Line that is connecting the mainlands of Noida to Greater Noida has already been certified and approved in its test runs, the stations are ready, the staff is in place and yet the launch is being stalled.
People who commute to these places daily, taking private cabs and renting the ‘Vikram’ autos, have been expecting a respite from the exhausting and often expensive commute. But the delay doesn’t seem to give way to the expectation of these travellers. The solar powered metro line is NMRC’s independent and ambitious undertaking that was supposed to be a wild card for the state and the central ministry, which is why it was expected to be inaugurated by PM Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath together.
Apart from the delay, another disappointing fact is that the commuters will also have to change metro lines several times to reach important stations since the Aqua Line is not linked to any of the major ones directly. The Aqua line metro’s Sector 71 station that falls under NMRC is not connected to Sector 51 metro station that falls under the wing of DMRC and both of them are hardly 500 meters away.
Plus the commuters coming in from Delhi to Noida-Greater Noida and vice-versa will have to use different metro cards for their travels through the Delhi Metro Line and the Noida Metro Line.
