Delhiites, your metro travels are going to become a whole lot more convenient by May!
Anyone who has travelled by the Delhi Metro, even for a day, has had the harrowing experience of standing in line for a token. Though many metro stations offer vending machines for the same, they are mostly not in working order.
In a bid to modernize Delhi metro stations, there will be an addition of 100 such token vending machines at 20 prominent metro stations. Surely, this is something that should be beneficial for all Delhi Metro users. Read on to know all about the 100 new token vending machines (TVMs), which will be ready by next May.
Those that travel by Delhi metro regularly are in for a surprise. Sure, most of you would have a metro smart card, but for those times when it's out of balance, the TVMs will come in handy. Even for those who don't travel by metro all that often, this will be a great help.
The TVMs will make for really quick token collection and also, will eliminate the need for passengers to stand in line. Additionally, the entire process will be automated, and that will lead to quicker check ins.
As part of the project, there are several new stations that will get TVMs. These include, stations such as Noida Sector 16, Janakpuri West, Patel Nagar, New Ashok Nagar, Sarai (Faridabad), Karkardooma, Lajpat Nagar, Tughlaqabad, Rohini West, Tagore Garden, Rajouri Garden, Tis Hazari, Moti Nagar, Uttam Nagar West, Ramesh Nagar, Preet Vihar, Nehru Place, Guru Dronacharya (Gurgaon) and Sector 28 (Faridabad).
In many cases, the need for manual token vending by Metro personnel will be eradicated, making way for a future proof metro system. This is already the case with some A-tier metro stations, which are some of the most highly frequented stations.
When it comes to Delhi metro, Delhiites are always looking forward to developments that make it easier to travel. The addition of token vending machines is just what we needed to take a step towards a better metro rail system.
