The cold and fog in Delhi is only going to intensify according to the Met department.

System of Air quality and weather Forecasting And Research institute (SAFAR) predicts that the weather conditions will lead to a very poor or poor air quality for the next three days. The SAFAR report said that the prolonged foggy conditions are responsible for bringing the air quality down as the fog is not letting particles escape. The PM2.5 and PM10 readings are twice the safe standard. Though, the SAFAR assures that these condition cannot last for very long and will soon give way to better air quality.
On Sunday, the temperature drop and intense fog blanket that covered NCR caused over a 100 of flights to be affected while several others got delayed because of destination fog.
A minimum runway visual range (RVR) of 50 meters is necessary for safe landing, while a minimum runway visual range (RVR) of 125 meters is required for takeoff, which could not be achieved.
Several airlines took to social media to request their passengers to check their flight timing and schedules before leaving their homes. Though, no flights got cancelled and visibility improved later in the day, other flight timings were affected because of the chain effect.
The weather conditions also affected the rail movements, where a total of 27 trains were delayed with a average delay of three to four hours.
