Owing to the Lok Sabha elections happening in the city on May 12th, the Delhi metro will start operations at 4 am
Delhi Metro is known for its efforts to make everyday life easy for people. From connecting every corner of Delhi through the interwoven metro network to building new towers for seamless network connectivity, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation always comes through for the commuters. In another of its attempt to make life easier for the people of Delhi, the DMRC has decided to start metro operations from 4 am on polling day, May 12th.
Owing to the election day in the national capital, the Delhi metro will start functioning two hour earlier than its usual time, i.e. 6 am. According to a statement released by the metro authorities, the move has been made to make sure that the staff on election duty can avail the metro services and reach their destination on time.
From 4 am onwards, the trains will run at a frequency of 30 minutes, meaning if you miss the train, the next one will arrive half an hour later. But after 6 am the trains will run on their regular Sunday schedule. While the trains from Dwarka Sector 21 to Vaishali will start operations after 4:30.
Delhi will go on polling on the 12th of May with seven seats at stake. The constituencies of North East Delhi, North West Delhi (SC), South Delhi, Chandni Chowk, East Delhi, New Delhi and West Delhi - will be held on Sunday. This will be the sixth phase of general elections and people will start casting their votes at over 13,000 booths, starting 7 am across the entire city.
