The new Uber Kiosks will completely change the way we think about last mile connectivity on Delhi metro
It is an undisputed fact that Delhi metro is the lifeline of the national capital. Transporting almost the entire city from one point to another, the Delhi metro has been a boon ever since its inception. However, last mile connectivity is one problem that seems to be unresolved, even now, after many years.
Now, with the help of new Uber cab kiosks at more than 200 metro stations, you will no longer have to book a cab the same boring old way again.
For all you commuters who hated travelling in autos after a metro ride, or waiting to book a cab, your lives have just been made simple. Now, one can expect Uber cab kiosks at Delhi Metro stations itself, at 210 stations across the city. The kiosks will help you book a cab right from the metro station, without using your mobile device.
With the help of the 210 Uber kiosks, you can directly book a cab from the metro station, without having to wait a long while. What's neat is that the cabs that you will get will be right around the corner, so as soon as you book it, you can hop on and get going.
In fact, this is not the only new thing that Uber has implemented. Their app now has a feature called public transport, meaning that travellers could just enter areas where they wish to take the public transport and book a cab at the destination after that. This is a rather intuitive update to the application.
As for the reason behind the addition of the kiosks to the metro stations, officials from Uber have stated that this is just a move to facilitate travels for frequent commuters. They seem to have recognised the plight of the average traveller and are acting upon it. Though one can get auto rickshaws or buses from the metro stations, none of these get you to your exact destination. With the Uber cabs, you can reach your final destination without a hassle.
Though the DMRC is constantly trying to give us Delhiites better and more impressive ways to travel, they have lacked when it came to last mile connectivity. Now that Uber has partnered up with DMRc, one can expect better amenities and better connectivity.
