The soon-to-be-launched Aqua Line metro stations in Noida will have solar panels instead of conventional power supply which will herald an era of renewable and eco-friendly energy sources! Especially after Delhi’s recent stints with alarming pollution levels, this is a much needed step!
The Noida Metro Rail Corporation would be charged at Rs 3.25 per unit for the power, which, it claimed, is the 'lowest tariff' for any metro rail service using solar power.
These solar panels will also be installed in the parking areas and boundary walls of the metro stations for maximum utilization of natural resources.
The line will start from Noida sector 52 metro station and will run through sectors 50, 51 ,75 , 76, 78, 101, 81, 83, 85, 137, 142, 143, 144, 147, 149 and 153. The Aqua Line will have an interchange station with the Delhi Metro at Noida Sector 52 metro station.
After this, it will enter Greater Noida and will go through Knowledge Park-II, Pari Chowk, Alpha-1 and Alpha-2, before terminating at Knowledge Park-IV!
The authorities have carefully selected the ‘aqua’ colour as they wanted to send across an environment friendly message and they have also come up with catchy tag lines- 'Ride with Pride' and 'Noida Metro, Apni Metro!’
The infrastructure work on the Aqua Line, the construction of which started way back in May 2015, has been completed and is currently being scrutinized by the commissioner of Metro Rail Safety!
This metro line will have a different ticketing system and a separate security set-up so the previously existing Delhi metro cards will not be applicable here. Moreover, there will not be any interchange between the Sector 71 station on the Aqua Line and Sector 52 station on the Blue Line extension in Noida for now.
According to sources, NMRC has opted for an open card system where the metro card will also serve as a debit card which can be used at any mall, taxis or buses! E-rickshaws will also be operational across 50 routes to ferry passengers as an add-on to the NMRC bus services.
The month long wait to avail the services is a little too much but it will definitely be worth it!
