Noida’s Aqua line Metro has, for a long time been connecting more areas in the city than ever before. Since the Aqua Line was launched a few months back, it has seen a respectable footfall and residents of Noida are fully making use of the new metro route. The footfall has usually been soaring but on a few odd occasions, the daily ridership has fallen as well.

Now, it seems that the Aqua Line has broken a few records as it has recorded one of the highest ridership in a single day. With numbers crossing 20,000, this is truly a landmark in the Aqua Line’s timeline.

What’s the update?

Noida’s Aqua Line Metro records highest footfall in a single day, crosses the 20,000 mark

Earlier, the highest recorded footfall on Aqua Line in a single day was nearing 19,000 commuters in the month of May. By the end of May, the metro system was seeing an average footfall of almost 13,500. At the same time, the Noida Aqua Line is not completely devoid of issues, which is part of the reason that the ridership is not increasing as incrementally.

As per the authorities, one of the major reasons as to why the footfall has suddenly taken a rise is because of the increased frequency of the trains, that were put in place since June 03, 2019. Currently, as per the new rules, the metro trains run at a frequency of around 7 minutes during peak hours and 10 minutes during non-peak hours.

Additionally, since there is a lack of proper last mile connectivity and no proper interchange stations, it dissuades many from making use of the Aqua Line. Recently, however, the authorities had improved facilities for commuters and this is another contributor to the fact that the ridership has gone up.

At any rate, the Aqua Line has become the lifeline of residents of Noida and there’s no denying that even though it is riddled with issues, it still saves daily commuters from the traffic, pollution and other issues that they would face if they used other modes of transport.
