Looks like we’ll have to wait longer for the observatory deck to open
One of the most awaited projects in Delhi is the Signature Bridge's observatory deck. Said to offer sprawling views of the city is a spot that Delhiites are eagerly waiting for. Earlier, there were reports that it could open by September of 2019, but a new report suggests that it will be inaugurated sometime early in 2020.
Though no fixed date was given by the authorities, they stated that they are on the job as we speak and aim to get it open as soon as possible. The observatory deck is a one-of-a-kind innovation that promises a bird's eye view of Delhi.
Earlier reports that stated the deck would open in September had us rather excited for its inauguration. However, new reports suggest otherwise and the wait will actually be longer than was expected.
As of now, most of the work has been completed but the DTTDC is trying to rope in a few private players, which is taking a while. For the private players, DTTDC has a few plans such as installing lifts, public conveniences and ticket counters along with thematic lights and facilities atop the deck. Since they have not decided which agency they plan to finally enlist, inauguration date of the observation deck has to be postponed.
The plans for the observatory deck are rather ambitious to say the least. It will be a four storied structure, complete with lifts, facilities, mounted binoculars, a glass facade for a 360 degree view of Delhi and the capacity to fit 60-70 tourists at once.
Apart from that, the deck itself is situated at a height of 165 meters from the ground up. That itself is a rather major draw that should attract a high footfall of visitors.
The viewing gallery at Signature Bridge, Delhi is a much awaited project. Once complete, it will become a major hotspot for tourists as well as for Delhiites. Having a sprawling bird's eye view of Delhi was a dream but the viewing gallery will help bring it to life.
