This February, catch The Great Indian Theatre Festival, happening HERE in Delhi

The Great Indian Theatre Fest is commencing this February.

Theatre is one of those performing art forms which isn't just limited to the stage, it's also about what you, the audience, takes back from the stage and how. The live emotions and expressions of different characters right in front of you within a confined space coupled with unfiltered reactions of the audience, makes for a true theatre show.

Stacking different elements together- starting from etching a script to managing intricate details and pouring them into the set, costume, lighting amidst other significant things and then fitting it according to the director's vision, is no easy task. The thought and creativity that goes into translating a story onto a stage by some of the most talented thespians, makes any theatre show exciting in itself and if you too, are a theatre enthusiast like us, you're really gonna love what's coming up next!

The Great Indian Theatre Fest is commencing this February and it's bringing one of its shows to Delhi and here's why you shouldn't be sitting this one out.

What's Happening?

As a part of The Great Indian Theatre Festival, you can catch the show of "Dearest Bapu, Love Kasturba", here at the Sirifort Auditorium on the 22nd of February and they have two slots for it- 5 PM and 8 PM. The fest will be home to over 50 plays that will be performed in over 25 cities all over India and we're waiting in anticipation, for the plays to unfold in front of our eyes.

The play opens with the drama of the Quit India movement and further goes on to showcase Gandhi being arrested and sent to the Aga Khan Palace, in Pune. The play then shows us how Kasturba leads in his absence, although arrested and sent to the Arthur Road Jail, in Bombay."Dearest Bapu, Love Kasturba" also talks about the letters exchanged between Gandhi and Kasturba, which also evaluates their relationship of 60 years. From marriage to death, the letters leave nothing out. A story wrapped in folds of drama, it truly shouldn't be missed out on.

This year, the festival is being regarded as utterly important in the theatre fraternity because this play will be bringing Zeenat Aman to the stage after 15 long years. The fest will launch with a grand premiere in Mumbai with Zeenat's "Dearest Bapu, Love Kasturba", before moving to Hyderabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, Vadodara, Chennai and Kolkata.
