Delhi Metro, the lifeline of the city, never ceases to amaze us. Connecting areas far and wide across Delhi, it's a boon for all those who wish to beat the traffic as well as the heat. The fact that Delhi Metro is constantly expanding, bringing in new areas under its wing, is a major boon for residents across Delhi. Now, with the introduction of three new corridors as a part of Delhi Metro's phase IV, we can expect better infrastructure and a closely linked National Capital.

What's the update?

After a long wait, Delhi metro's phase IV, which consists of three corridors, could be approved and ready for work. This phase is already running a few years behind schedule, but once the tenders are accepted, the DMRC plans to begin work on the project as soon as they can.

With Phase IV, DMRC is planning one of the most ambitious projects yet- one that is structurally sound and takes metro technology to new heights. Needless to say, the new metro corridors will open the doors for people from more areas to make use of the lifeline of the city.

What route will Phase IV follow?

Since Phase IV of Delhi Metro has three corridors, it will be one of the longer phases that are part of the DMRC. The first corridor in this phase will connect areas from Delhi Aerocity to Tughlakabad, the second will bring metro facility from Janakpuri (West) to RK Ashram and the third and final one will connect Mukundpur to Maujpur.

In total, the three corridors will have 46 stations- 15 stations on the first one, 25 on the second and 6 on the third corridor. Of these metro corridors, the route from Janakpuri to RK Ashram is the longest one at a length of 28.92-kilometers.

What sets it apart?

This phase of the metro boasts of some of the most sound plans of infrastructure that we've heard of in any metro. For one, it will have a set of overhead and underground metro tunnels, which will lend the metro a more modern feel. Apart from that, a new 6 lane flyover will be constructed along a major metro station, which will help keep the traffic flowing.

Apart from that, a multi-level viaduct will ensure that trains are always moving and that there aren't any hindrances to everyday travels.

Knock Knock

Delhi Metro's Phase IV is probably the most delayed project. Though the plans and blueprints have been readied, all that is left is the approval. We're expecting the tenders to be approved any time now and work should begin in full swing.
