Delhi air pollution problem is one that has been rampant for a really long time now. Many efforts to keep a tab on the air pollution and to reduce it have been making the rounds. Now, in another first, Delhi is home to a one of a kind smog tower that aims to keep a tab on the rising air pollution.

Earlier last year, we got a whole bunch of things that helped reduce the air pollution but the smog tower is here to help us Delhiites understand how much of an impact bad air really has on us. Here's all you need to know about the new smog tower.

What's the update?

As of today, there is a new smog tower in Delhi that basically helps in keeping a tab on the pollution levels. Along with that, the smog tower also acts as a 20-foot tall air purifier, which is surely something that will help with the rising air pollution in Delhi.

The massive smog tower has come up at Lajpat Nagar, which is the hub of most of the pollution in Delhi. Not just that, the area also has a constantly high amount of particulate in the air. For a trial run of the tower, Lajpat Nagar was the best place.

As per experts who are involved in the project, the smog tower should instantly bring down air pollutants by 80%, which is actually rather ambitious. If the air tower indeed accomplishes this feat, then it will certainly bring about a major change in the air pollution conditions.

What about the current pollution status?

Though many felt that the pollution levels in Delhi had taken a dip, Friday's pollution levels say otherwise. On Friday, the levels were seen to be at 419, which falls in the severe category of air pollution. Prior to this, there were very few days when the air pollution was noted below 300.

Knock Knock

Pollution levels in Delhi have been at an all time high for quite a long time now and it is high time that something is done about it. This smog tower is one initiative that aims to give Delhiites a reality check as well as to help clean the atmosphere itself.
