In a move to make Delhi a whole lot more future proof and better connected, the authorities have come up with a plan to set up 11,000 WiFi hotspots across the city. For a long time now, there have been many areas that are not connected to the internet. With the help of WiFi hotspots, hindrance in connectivity will be woes of the past. Read on to know more details about the WiFi hotspots.
As part of the plan to install WiFi facility, the entire national capital will be fitted with routers at prominent buildings. These buildings will include structures such as malls, hospitals, parks, prominent buildings and area squares. Owing to this, the WiFi coverage will be as widespread as possible and will provide high speed internet to users across the city.
As per authorities, the routers installed will have a range of up to 50 meters from the base of the device, which makes for some pretty long range signals. In addition to that, the routers will be set up outside, meaning that there will be no barriers in the signals. Of the 11,000 hotspots, 4,000 will come up at bus stations which means that even when you're on the go, you're good to go.
Apart from just having a long range of operation, authorities have stated that each user will be given about 15 GB of data per month, which is more than enough for the average user. To avail of this, users will have to first register their devices before they can avail of free data.
We're glad to see that the authorities are making moves to make Delhi more developed and smarter than it already is. As of now, the goal is to have the hotspots up and running by 2020.
