Game of Thrones fans are aware of Bran Stark’s ability to warg into anyone’s body enabling him to control their actions and time travel. However, according to new theories that have surfaced recently, Bran might actually be the Night King, the master of the White Walkers.

The Night King first appeared in season four when in one of Bran’s visions, he comes across the events from the past, present and future.

Later in Season six, in another vision of Bran, the Night King is able to feel the former’s presence and he goes on to hold Bran’s hand, thereby marking him. As the Three-Eyed Raven had then explained, this mark allows the Night King to know the location of the marked person even when the said person is protected by magic.

In continuation, the theory also explains Mad King’s "burn them all" phrase. At Kings Landing, Mad Aerys II (The Mad King) gives repetitive orders to “burn them all”. As per the theory, warging into Mad King’s body it was Bran who was actually trying to tell everyone to burn the White Walkers. However, misjudged by the people, his orders were perceived to kill the people dwelling at Kings Landing.

In a similar incident, when Bran wargs into the body of Hodor during the battle at the cave, he gets stuck and hence Hodor gets his name and story.

In the show, Blood Raven and Jojen Reed warn Bran that, "it’s [Greensight] beautiful beneath the sea; stay too long and you drown.” Fans have been taking this as an indication that Bran stayed in Night King’s body for too long and gets trapped in there.

Other theories point towards Bran The Builder who supposedly built The Wall to keep the White Walkers on the other side was actually a time travelling Bran.

In the last season, The Wall was eventually destroyed by Daenerys’ dragon who turned into a wight.

Another set of theories suggest that when the Three-Eyed Crow once told Bran that he could never walk again but he will fly, is a proof that Bran might also be the Three-Eyed Raven which in turns again signifies the possibility of him being the Night King.

These theories can be a little confusing and might raise a lot more questions than giving away the answers. George RR Martin, the writer of GOT, also admitted that the ending of the show is going to be bittersweet.

But, we’ll find answers to all these questions on April 14, when Game of Thrones returns with its final season.
