Karol Bagh’s Ajmal Khan road happens to be one of the most busy shopping hubs in the National Capital. Only a few months back, the road became completely devoid of motor vehicles, which led to a huge increase in footfall and was, on the whole, a boon for residents and shoppers at Karol Bagh. Following this development, the place will now become more eco friendly as there are plans to plant a huge green cover in the entire area.
As part of the overhaul coming to Ajmal Khan road in Karol Bagh, the eventual goal is to make the place not only more lucrative to shoppers, but to also enhance the look and feel of it. In addition to that, the green cover will also serve as a method to repel pollution that is rampant across the city. More street furniture and benches are also being put in place.
As for the plantation of flora, the authorities aim to plant two species of trees- rosy trumpet and Saptaparni. Both of the trees have been semi grown for a period of two years, which means that they’re already quite tall and should add to aesthetic ambience of the place. Both species have been specially selected after taking into consideration the needs of the marketplace as a whole.
As per reports, there will be a total of 100 such flowering tree plants spread across the entire area. Authorities also stated that these trees can grow up to be extremely tall, which will benefit future generations as well. To ensure that daily activities of shoppers and shopkeepers are not disrupted, the authorities have decided to get the work done only during non rush hours.
Keeping in mind the overall development of surrounding areas as well, they will also plant trees in several other areas. For this, they will put gym equipments and swings for kids in a few areas, install new ATMs and plastic crushers for the convenience of residents and shoppers.
