The Chief Minister of Goa launched State Electricity Department’s new One Time Settlement Scheme 2020 in a function at the Secretariat in Porvorim on Monday. This scheme gives an opportunity to all defaulting consumers to pay their pending dues of electricity bills to the Electricity Department with either partly or fully waiver of Delayed Payment Charges (DPC) based on the period of repayment.
Applications under this scheme can be submitted by the deadline of December 31, 2020. The Cabinet Head dignified this proposition as one of the biggest steps in the state in the last 60 years, adding, a similar scheme would be launched by the public works department (PWD) for water bills as well.

As a first of its kind in the state, Goa’s new OTS scheme is for the benefit of power consumers who have defaulted in clearing their electricity dues in installments, with full or part waiver on the delayed fees on pending dues. Applicable to all active consumers, temporarily disconnected/permanently disconnected consumers and revenue recovery cases, the scheme will remain alive for 1 month, accepting online application via the Electricity Department’s Portal. Consumers can avail the benefits of this scheme, by registering from December 1 , 2020 to December 31, 2020.
Under the scheme, the consumer will have to pay only the principle amount due, and based on the period of repayment opted, the DPC will be waived off as well! The consumer has a choice of repayment in 1 or 2 installments for absolute 100% waiver of DPC and part waiver of 80%, 60%, 40%, 20% of DPC for repayment periods of 3, 4, 5, 6 months respectively.
The state has announced that they is no limit to the amount of the outstanding dues pending for payments to apply for OTSS 2020. The Electricity Department has also stated that there is no restriction on the default period, and all dues before October 13, 2020 can enjoy the benefits of the scheme.
The Chief Minister has stated that the state authorities are diligently engaged in providing maximum benefits to the people. He has also urged the citizens to cooperate with the designated authorities to maximise the interest of the state welfare scheme and it a grand success.
