Amid Omicron scare, India puts its plan to ​resume International Commercial air service on hold

Notably, India was about to resume commercial international passenger air services from December 15

According to the latest circular issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) India, the government of India has put its initial plan of reopening international commercial flights on hold. With the discovery of a new and more transmissible strain of COVID, the administration has stepped into action to prevent and eliminate the risk of transmission of this variant in the country. Notably, India was about to resume international passenger air services from December 15 after a gap of about twenty months, however this decision stands suspended in view of the current Omicron scare.

International flyers reaching Maharashtra to undergo mandatory quarantine; RT-PCR must for domestic travel

Amid the emergent concerns of the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus, the Maharashtra government on Tuesday announced a mandatory quarantine for all international travellers arriving in the state. The guidelines have been made more stringent for travellers flying from at-risk countries, with the imperative of institutional quarantine on arrival.

Travel protocols for domestic travel have also been revised, added reports. Now, all passengers flying within Maharashtra will either have to be fully vaccinated or produce a negative RT-PCR test on arrival, conducted within 48 hours of the time of arrival. On the other hand, people flying to Maharashtra from other Indian states also have to present the negative COVID report, irrespective of vaccination status.

Third train set for Kanpur Metro arrives in the city

Kanpur Metro is expected to start its commercial services by the end of this month

Adding to the existing fleet of the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation, the third three-coach metro train set arrived in Kanpur yesterday. Reportedly, with the successful completion of the trials undertaken by the Research Design & Standard Organisation (RDSO), Kanpur Metro is expected to start its commercial services by the end of this month. As per the officials, the fourth train set will arrive in the industrial city tomorrow.

SAI Lucknow to conduct Women's Hockey selection trials for NCOE on Dec 6 & 7

As per the notification issued by the Sports Authority of India, girls aged between 14 and 18 can apply for the selection trials

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) is all set to conduct countrywide selection trials of the Women's hockey team for National Centre Of Excellence (NCOE) this month. As per the report, the trial will be organised at Netaji Subhas Regional Centre, SAI in Lucknow on December 6 and 7, 2021. In line with the existing COVID scenario, a negative RT-PCR report, not older than 72 hours is mandatory to enter the premises. IMD issues 'yellow alert' in Mumbai amid forecasts of heavy rains on Wednesday

These showers are likely to extend for the next 24 hours in Mumbai

Mumbai, Thane and Palghar woke up to isolated light showers accompanied by low temperature on the first day of December. As per reports, the IMD has issued a yellow alert in these regions for Wednesday amid forecasts of a moderate to isolated heavy monsoon spell through the day.

According to the MeT department, these unseasonal rains have been spurred due to western disturbances, intensified by a low-pressure area over the east-central Arabian Sea off Maharashtra. These showers are likely to extend until Thursday, added reports.
