Greater Noida Metro: Aqua Line to be inaugurated on Jan 25 by UP CM Yogi Adityanath
The much-awaited Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC)’s Aqua Line will finally be inaugurated on January 25th. The Noida-Greater Noida Aqua Metro Line will be inaugurated by UP CM Yogi Adityanath.
Though a full month late than it’s expected inauguration on 25th December, the metro route will provide great relief to the daily passengers commuting to and from the Greater Noida and Noida interiors daily.
The much awaited metro line was given a green signal after its safety inspection on 21st last December and was supposed to be inaugurated on the 25th jointly by PM Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath. The ambitious solar run metro route was expected to be a Christmas gift to the residents of Delhi and Noida. However, the inauguration got postponed and the metro line is now likely to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Adityanath on 25th this month as a late New Year’s present.
Aqua Line has been ready for the final go ahead for quite some time now, the test runs have been done and approved, the stations are ready and the staff too is in place, the only thing missing from the whole picture was a release date.
The NMRC’s 23.9 KM long metro route runs between Noida Sector 71 station, which is hardly 500 meters away from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC)‘s Sector 51 station and Depot Station in Greater Noida. The metro line comprises a total of 21 stations, 15 of which are in Noida and 6 in Greater Noida.
People who commute to these places daily, taking private cabs and renting the ‘Vikram’ autos, will get a respite from the exhausting and often expensive commute. Though, commuters will have to change metro lines, as there won’t be any interchange between the Sector 71 station on the Aqua Line and Sector 52 station on the Blue Line extension in Noida. Plus, the commuters coming in from Delhi to Noida-Greater Noida and vice-versa will have to use different metro cards for their travels through the metro lines.

This metro line will have a different ticketing system and a separate security set-up so the previously existing Delhi metro cards will not be applicable here. Moreover, there will not be any interchange between the Sector 71 station on the Aqua Line and Sector 52 station on the Blue Line extension in Noida for now.
The ticket prices are less for smart card users as compared to those travelling on paper tickets. Travelling one station is going to cost Rs 10 on an QR-coded ticket and Rs 9 via smart card; 2 km will cost Rs 15 on ticket and Rs 13.50 on smart card; 3 to 6 km will cost Rs 20 via ticket and Rs 18 on smart card; 7 to 9 km will cost Rs 30 on ticket and Rs 27 on smart card.

In fact, this facility is not limited to be availed by only those taking off from Delhi, it can also be used to get your luggage delivered to your residence when you touchdown at IGI.
What's the update?
In a bid to make travelling to and from IGI airport easier for passengers, DIAL has undertaken a partnership with CarterX to start a service where a commuter's luggage can be transported to and from the IGI airport directly from their place of residence. This, essentially, is a step towards making checking in to the airport a breeze.
Additionally, if you're short on time and are planning to take the direct metro link to the airport, this is a great way to ensure that you don't have to lug your stuff around.
To avail the service, you will have to pay a fee based on the number, weight and size of the bags. The fee will also take into account distance to and from the airport, meaning the prices are going to be dynamically triggered. DIAL and CarterX have both stated that with this service, they aim to cover the entirety of Delhi, including neighbouring states- Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
