Delhi has a great theater culture which has formed the bedrock of the acting careers of many in the industry and have given the country various gems. The city not only breeds actors, it gives them the resources and the right kind of nourishment with a number of theater shows, clubs and acting institutes, giving the city a taste of good theater.

To rejuvenate our love for the art and to give people a taste of the extraordinary, Delhi Theatre Festival is coming to town and if you love drama, this is where you need to be!

Big names & bigger performances

Delhi isn’t unknown to big names performing in the city, yet when it comes to theater, unlike the west, we don’t see many main stream actors coming back to the stage. But with this festival, Delhi will see a host of performances by names, who’ll be coming to take the city by storm.

The list of performers include Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Supriya Pathak, Rajat Kapur, Vinay Pathak and Sumit Vyas of the Permanent Roommates fame.

When and Where

The festival will be a three day long extravaganza and will be spread over various venues in NCR. The artists will be performing in several plays. Supriya Pathak and Pankaj Kapur will be seen in ‘Seher’, while Pankaj will also be seen in a standalone ‘Dopehri’. Sumit Vyas will be seen performing in ‘Red Rabbit White Rabbit’ while Naseeruddin Shah will perform in ‘Einstein’.

A number of such shows will be happening around town between August 31 and September 1, so if you are a lover of theatrics or just want to try something fresh, you should definitely head for a few shows.
