Knocksense: A local content and recommendations platform

Vicky Kaushal has proven to be a versatile actor with most of his previous performances. His performances in Masaan, Lust stories and URI have been commended by fans as well as the critics. Now, Vicky is gearing himself for Shoojit Sircar’s Biopic on Udham Singh and his new look has made all the fans very excited.

For everyone who is not aware of Udham Singh, he was a revolutionary nationalist who had shot Michael O’Dwyer, the man responsible for the tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre which had taken place on April 13, 1919. Vicky had already announced about the film in March and since then the fans have been curious to get a glimpse of his look.

In the Biopic, Vicky will be sporting a clean shaven look, this will be a new change from his signature beard and moustache. Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh took to twitter to share some of Vicky’s first looks.

Director Shoojit Sircar was asked if Vicky was recognized by the locals in St. Petersburg, Russia where they were currently shooting for the film. He answered, that he was recognised by the Indians around. While, he himself and the others there liked Vicky’s commitment along with his dynamism to experiment with different roles. Shoojit then mentioned how there was a burning intensity and anger in Vicky’s eyes during their first meeting and got convinced that Vicky was the perfect man to play Udham.

For, Shoojit Sircar this movie holds a special place and he is very nervous about the movie. He heard the inspirational story when he was in college during his theatre days. But, he did not have a team or the financial stability to bring the story alive on the silver screen. Now, that he has a team with Ritesh Shah, Shubhendu Bhattacharya, Ronnie Lahiri, Sheel Kumar, Vicky Kaushal, and years of his experience, he will be able to bring this unknown revolutionary alive on screen.

The movie is expected to be released in 2020 and will be commemorating the 100 years of the tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
