IIT Kanpur starts new degree programmes in stats & data science, admission through JEE-Advance

Students will have the option to choose inter-disciplinary elective courses from CSE and EE departments.

Catering to the interdisciplinary trends in academia, the Indian Institute of Technology (Kanpur) has introduced two new degree programmes- Bachelor of Science and integrated Bachelor of Science- Master of Science. Admissions to these programmes, in the field of statistics and data science, will be offered through JEE-Advance. IIT Kanpur has introduced these courses with an aim to empower graduates with the knowledge to build a flourishing career in the data science industry, apart from pursuing higher education in classical and modern statistics.


New programmes introduced from 2021-22 session

Opening new avenues for students in higher education, the Indian Institute of Technology (Kanpur) has announced new courses to be introduced at the undergraduate level. Beginning from 2021-22 academic session, a four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) and a five-year Bachelor of Science-Master of Science (BS-MS) degree programme in 'Statistics and Data Science' is to be offered.

The new degree programmes have been introduced by IIT Kanpur's Mathematics and Statistics Department and they are tailor-made for students interested in the study and analysis of data. Approved by the academic senate and the board of the institute, the admissions to these programmes will be conducted through JEE-Advanced.

Further, in the new programmes, students will have an option to choose from inter-disciplinary elective courses floated by the Department of Computer Science Engineering and Electrical Engineering. These courses have been launched with an aim to arm students with relevant skills to go grow rapidly in the interdisciplinary field of Big Data Analytics.

Indore has reported the highest dengue cases in 6 years. As per reports, around 17 fresh cases were recorded here in the past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 384 cases. According to the health department, around nine males and eight females contributed to the day's dengue count, marking the rise of an endemic in the city.

UP to soon get a new 200-acre-wide data centre park

The new data centre will come up in Noida's Sector-28

In a bid to cultivate Uttar Pradesh's commercial landscape, the state administration has planned to develop data centre park in Noida. This structure will reportedly spread over 200 acres of land at Sector 28 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority and attract investments from IT industry giants in India and abroad. The plan is expected to roll out by the end of August.
