Stepping out for COVID vaccination? Here are 5 measures you should keep in mind!

Make sure to not get the virus back home from the vaccination site itself by following these 5 simple steps!

When COVID infection rates are exploding all across the country, vaccination seems to be the only respite for the citizens. With the launch of extensive drives for all individuals above the age of 18, inoculation of a humongous count of individuals will be witnessed in the upcoming days and weeks. While we are all planning to get our slots booked on an urgent basis, we must not forget that the immunisation centres can also turn into contagion hotspots, if proper precautions are not undertaken. So, here are the 5 things to keep in mind as you step out to get your immunity booster jab, that will prevent you from getting the virus back home!

Double mask the proper way

As per experts, a set of two masks has been found to provide enhanced protection against the virus in comparison to a single cover. If you are trudging out for vaccination, you must overlap the usual surgical mask with a cloth mask and allow no lags to obstruct your defence against the virus. Follow the instructions detailed in the graphic above and make sure to keep your cover intact as long as you are out in the open!

Do not forget your gloves and sanitisers!

Through the past year, masks, gloves and sanitisers have evolved to be the best friends of all alert and sensible individuals. With the unprecedented escalation in infection rates, the significance of these necessities has only increased. Now, that you move to get your vaccine jabs, you must certainly cover your hands and sanitise all objects from door handles to chair-arms before touching them.

Disinfect your chair in the waiting area

In the current scenario, when the virus has seeped almost everywhere, it is pertinent to take utmost care while finding your place in the waiting area at the immunisation centre. Before taking a seat at your chosen spot, you must disinfect the chair thoroughly and try your bit to avoid any contact with the germs lying on its surface. If you follow these simple norms and practice prudence, you can definitely strengthen your guard against the virus!

Keep all the necessary things & documents handy

Depending upon your process of registration, you will be required to produce an authorised SMS or your Adhaar card to avail of the immunity jab. Additionally, the beneficiaries are made to fill a form at the centre once they sign up for vaccination. Thereby, it is important to keep the said documents and a pen handy to avoid chaos and reduce the possibilities of contact with other people at the site.

Wait for your turn and avoid overcrowding

It has been a long wait stretching over many months to get the vaccine and a simple act of carelessness can lead you to some serious trouble. Therefore, it is important to be calm and composed at the vaccination centre and wait for your turn patiently. Besides adhering to social distancing while standing in queues, you must also ensure to stay away from crowded spots!

Knock Knock

In addition to all the aforesaid measures, there are two essential things to be followed in your pre and post-vaccination schedule. Firstly, take a complete meal before hitting the inoculation site for you will not be allowed to have anything in the 30-minute interval succeeding the administration of the jab. Secondly, discard all your clothes, take a bath and disinfect yourself completely once you return from the centre.

Blanketed under uncertainties, the current situation looks like jumping into a war zone to win yourself the protective gear! So, be cautious and assure maximum care to save yourself and your loved ones from the deadly infection.
