Swedish furniture giant, IKEA has set a pace for rapid expansion and growth in India to catch up with the delays marked by the COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent nationwide lockdown. National carrier Air India flagged off its first service from San Francisco to Bengaluru on Saturday, which was piloted by an all-women cockpit crew. As per a statement issued by the airline, "The flight will be operated by an all-women cockpit crew of Capt Zoya Aggarwal (P1), Capt Papagari Thanmai (P1), Capt Akansha Sonaware (P2) and Capt Shivani Manhas (P2)." In addition to this, Air India has also tabled to start its first-ever non-stop service between Hyderabad and Chicago from January 15.

On the recommendation of the Indian expert panel of drug regulators, the Government of India has approved the usage of Oxford-AstraZeneca's coronavirus vaccine, Covishield, for emergency use in India, with restrictions. Becoming the first COVID-19 vaccine in India, Covishield will be manufactured in bulk, indigenously, by Pune-based Serum Insitute of India. Cited as more affordable, easier to transport and easier to store, this vaccine grants 70% efficacy against coronavirus contraction. As per reports, the first vials of the Covishield will roll out by January 10, 2021, providing immunity to around 30 crore individuals in India.
