Who isn't aware of the iconic 7-Eleven stores that have been spread all over the world. The legendary store has changed the way people shop and eat around the world and we cannot wait to finally have the stores and their product here in the country. Which city would be better to signify the shift in culture and welcome a new change than the ever growing Mumbai.
Kishore Biyani announced recently that his venture SHME Food Brands, an arm of Future Retail, would be bringing the small-format convenience store to Mumbai.
I mean, who can resist a convenient store that becomes a cafe, the endless slurpees, frozen drinks, hot dogs on the grill, fried chicken and even Michelin starred ready to eat ramen.
If you have never heard of the convenient store or do not understand what the charm is, simply go to youtube and type "7-Eleven" and get accustomed to a whole new world of youtube videos, reviews and products that we cannot wait to hold and have.
Other Asian Countries and 7-Elevens
Most of the developed or developing countries in Asia have embraced the 7-Eleven culture. A place where you can find literally any kind of food and utility that you might need on the go. 7-Elevens mostly focus on food and that is what we are concerned with.
While the food in other Asian countries like Japan, Thailand and Philippines has been selected, curated and made to fit the kind of food culture and lifestyle the said countries represent, it would be interesting what 7-ELeven could bring in India.
When Kishore Biyani of the Future Group announced that he would be bringing the world convenience store to the country, he also specified that the company is closely working with 7-Eleven to decide on he kind of food would be best to introduce to the Indian market. Well, we hope it is better than the 24Seven Hot-Dogs and Samosas we're accustomed to.
