Initiatives like these will help counter the rise by raising the much-needed awareness among the general public.
In an attempt to spread awareness among public, Indore Cancer Foundation launched a song on cancer on Sunday to commemorate National Cancer Awareness Day in India. As per the World Health Organisation (WHO), cancer is the leading cause of death globally, accounting for nearly 10 million fatalities in 2020 alone. Through this awareness song, the foundation aims to impart information about types of cancer, early symptoms of the disease and the benefits of getting the treatment on time.
Initiative to raise cancer awareness
In India, the National Cancer Awareness Day is observed on November 7 every year, to raise awareness about cancer prevention and the need to detect the disease at the earliest. Furthering this agenda, this song is based on popularising easy way of learning about cancer and ways to save life by early detection. Penned down by Dr. Digpal Dharkar, who is the founder president of this organisation, this song has been sung by singer Kapil Purohit. As per reports, the authority is planning to broadcast this song at various public places including movie theatres.
Even though the cancer rates in India are lower as compared to the western countries, the rising cases with increased migration of rural population to urban areas are raising concerns. Initiatives like these will help counter the rise by raising the much-needed awareness among the general public.
