The city has been presented with 11 awards in different categories for the projects under Smart City Mission.
Adding another feather to its glorious cap, India's cleanest city Indore has clinched the top spot along with Surat in the urban category of the India Smart Cities Competition (ISAC) 2020. Declaring the results of the contests in a virtual event on Friday, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs marked the sixth anniversary of Smart Cities Mission (SCM), AMRUT and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban. As per reports, the three missions were launched on the same date six years ago.

As per reports, Indore received awards in 11 different categories and secured the top position amongst the 100 best smart cities. Amid the state category, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh were placed at the first and the second places, given the interventions implemented by them for fueling the Smart City Mission. Reportedly, the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs judged the states, cities and union territories based on the execution of smart city projects.
Reportedly, five cities from Madhya Pradesh have been rewarded in various categories, including Jabalpur, Sagar and Gwalior. In recognition of the efforts of the cities, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh applauded the local level authorities. Notably, Indore has registered wins in a lot of competitions and this achievement has further highlighted the potential of the city.
City registers win in waste management & heritage conservation
As per reports, Indore has been awarded for the revamp of Chhappan Dukaan into 'smart food street', under the category of Built Environment Theme. Reportedly, the city recorded top spots under culture and economy themes for 'Conservation of Built Heritage' and 'Carbon Credit Financing Mechanism' respectively. Additionally, Indore and Tirupati left all other cities behind in the Municipal Waste Management System Theme. Further, the city has also triumphed in the innovation category.
