Pride of Indore, Rahat Indori lives on through his timeless shayaris!

Rahat Indori has garnered national and international applause in his lifetime.

It has already been a year to the day when the legend, Dr. Rahat Indori, breathed his last. Former Professor of Urdu Literature at Indore's Devi Ahilya University, a painter and a renowned lyricist, Dr. Indori held many feathers in his cap. As we remember him, on his first death anniversary, here is a list of his inspirational shayaris that have an ineffaceable place in our hearts and in the world of Urdu poetry.

Indori's take on friendship

Choose your friends wisely, recommends the legend!

"Dosti jab kisi se ki jaye,
Dushmano ki bhi raae li lee jaye"

Here's another one of his couplet that will make you feel grateful for the friends you have-

"Zindagi hai toh naye zakhm bhi lag jaenge,
Ab bhi baqi hain kayi dost purane mere"

Untangling the complexity of human life

Indori's much-acclaimed expressive way of reciting poetry shines on through his words; take this one for example-

"Log har mod par ruk ruk kar sambhalte kyu hain,
Itna Darte hain toh ghar se nikalte kyu hain"

"Bulati hai magar jaane ka nai,

Ye duniya hai, idhar aane ka nai"

"Jaagne ki bhi, Jagaane ki bhi adat ho jaye,
Kaash tujhe bhi kisi shayar se mohabbat ho jaye"

"Zuban toh khol, nazar toh mila, jawab toh de,
Main kitni baar luta hoon, hisaab toh de"

Indori and his love for Hindustan

This couplet sums up Indori's love for the country, aptly-

"Aye zameen, ik roz teri khaak me kho jaenge, so jaenge
Marr ke bhi rishta nahi tootega, Hindustan se, Imaan se"

Here is one that will ingrain patriotism in your heart instantly!

"Main marr jaaon toh meri ek alag pehchan likh dena,
Lahu se meri peshani pe Hindustan likh dena"

Another couplet that spells patriotism, states-

"Sabhi ka khoon hai shamil yahan ki mitti mein,
Kisi ke baap ka Hindustan thodi hai!

The antidote to your melancholy 

These words are sure to inspire you and lift your spirits up-

"Shakhon se toot jayein, wo patte nahin hain hum,
Aandhi se koi keh de ki aukaat mein rahe"

Another one of his mantras for boosting self-confidence, says-

"Bohot ghuroor hai dariya ko apne hone pe,
Jo meri pyaas se uljhe toh dhajjiyan udd jayein"

Lowest tally of daily COVID cases recorded in Maharashtra in 17 months

In order to trap and tackle the spread of Coronavirus infection, a night curfew from 11 PM to 6 AM had been active for a long time now. Moving the Kanpur Metro construction at a fast pace, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has decided to focus on the underground tunnel work here. This move has come after the installation of the underground metro station about 21 meters below the ground, read reports. For this, Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) will be deployed in the city to ensure that the underground route stretches at the same level, throughout. Notably, this is the first time in Uttar Pradesh when 6 TBMs will be used simultaneously to complete the construction within the slated deadline.

UPSRTC to launch new inter-city Janrath Buses in Lucknow to cater to the festive season rush

The buses will connect Lucknow to 6 other cities including- Delhi, Varanasi, Jaipur, Muzaffarpur, Dehradun, and Gorakhpur.

The Transport Department in Lucknow is going to run 125 air-conditioned buses on major routes in the city to ease travel during the festive season rush. Known as 'Janrath Buses', these buses will provide a cheaper travel alternative as compared to the high-end luxury Volvo and Scania buses. The buses will connect Lucknow to 6 other cities including- Delhi, Varanasi, Jaipur, Muzaffarpur, Dehradun, and Gorakhpur.
