Indore to get a state of the art bus stand at Sarwate!

Indore Municipal Corporation has decided to build an ultra modern, state of the art bus stand at Sarwate. This bus stand will be made in place of the one that had been demolished almost 9 months ago. It is expected to be a multi storey building, complete with modern facilities including several bay areas for entry and exits of buses.

What's the update?

The iconic Sarwate bus stand that was demolished in May is expected to be changed into a multi-storey modern bus stand. The Sarwate bus stand has been a landmark in the city of Indore, where almost 600 buses carry people from all around the country daily.

The old, dilapidated bus-station was demolished last year by the Indore Municipal Corporation. After a 9 month long wait, the municipal corporation has finally decided to revive the lifeline of Indore roadways.

The Facts

The new Sarwate bus stand is said to have 5 storeys, 16 dedicated bus departure bays that will accommodate almost 80 buses. The bus station will have 10 ticket booths, with 2 at the departures itself. It is also expected that the bus station will have separate entry and exitways for buses and passengers.

Whom does it benefit?

The construction of this bus stand will be extremely beneficial for people who choose to travel through the city’s bus services. Not only that, the construction of this bus stand will clear the excessive jam along the nearby areas. The station comprises of several tin-shaded makeshift ticket and enquiry counters which often make it impossible for the buses to adjust in the parking area.

Because of this, the buses line a long way outside the station and result in traffic jams and road congestion. The new bus stand is expected to clear the traffic as well as provide relief to the people who have had to make-do with the station’s lack of basic facilities like hygienic toilets and rest spots.

When will it complete?

The station, though just approved, is expected to finish within 15 months. It would be prudent to say that people of Indore can expect their new bus station to be ready by 2020.

Knock Knock

The condition of Sarwate bus stand has become so bad that a new bus station is much anticipated. Let’s hope that this new bus station will prove to be much better in terms of facilities and ease than the old one was, making it a bigger landmark in the city.
