Aiming towards making Indore a smart and safe city, equipped with a modern transportation and traffic management system, IMC will redevelop the stretch between Bapat Square and Brilliant Convention Centre. As part of the Indore beautification project, various development projects will be taken up including footpath construction, street lights and intersection safety on the aforementioned stretch.
Address major black spot at Bapat Square
The project has been approved by Indore civic body at an estimated cost of ₹1 crore. As per the reports, the civic body has earmarked several issues, including black spots at the Bapat Intersection and a lack of lighting between Bapat Square and Brilliant Convention Centre.
The project will include installation of paver blocks, construction of pathways on both sides of the road and redevelopment of dividers along with landscaping work on the stretch.
The inefficient road engineering-related issues at the square have been one of the reasons for numerous accidents. In order to overcome the challenge, IMC will reduce the number of speed breakers on the MR-10 road. Other than this, the high gradient slope on the road between Bapat Square and Brilliant Convention and Sukhlia will be redeveloped as per the National Road construction and safety rules.
24×7 work culture in Indore attracts new safety regulations
In line with the recent developments encouraging a 24×7 work environment in Indore, IMC’s beautification drive aims at ensuring women’s safety, especially during the night working hours. For this, additional surveillance systems have been installed at various intersections including Bapat square.
Other than this, the city police department has been conducting several surveys on the identified black spots along the BRTS corridor. The move is aimed at offering a hassle-free and secure commute to the citizens during odd hours.
