Continuing with its host of proactive measures to make Indore beggar-free, the admin has launched yet another incentive-based campaign.
By giving cash rewards to locals who would report a child beggar and thereafter counselling the families, the admin is addressing the widespread problem and attempting at resolving it at its core. The Beggar Rehabilitation Programme, headed by Collector Ashish Singh, aims at uplifting this section of the society and improving their quality of life.
Measures to help save children in beggary
By making calls to a WhatsApp number (9691729017), citizens can help save countless children on the streets who are subjected to beggary, often by force. The admin has announced rewards of ₹1,000 for information of any child beggar spotted on the roads.
Additionally, the campaign is utilising CCTV cameras that have been installed at key crossings and intersections in the city. These will assist in monitoring the situation and track activities of the child beggars. Along with this, the Women and Child Development Department will help remove children from the street and tend to them by providing care and support.
The Indore admin has been zeroing in on the problem for a few years now via implementation of tailor-made policies to bring an end to beggary. Numerous measures have been brought in like IMC rehabilitation centre providing fresh food, clean clothes and toys, a dedicated rehabilitation and skill development centre, engaging public involvement and provision of crucial facilities such as health check-ups.
