Having already booked their berth in the playoffs, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will want to strengthen their top spot in the points table when they take on Kings XI Punjab in their last group stage encounter of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) edition at the IS Bindra Stadium, here today.

KXIP vs CSK: CSK aim to cement top spot against KXIP

Chennai thrashed Delhi Capitals by 80 runs in their last match at MA Chidambaram Stadium, thus sealing the top spot with 18 points. The team would be buoyed by the fact that their skipper MS Dhoni is in tremendous form in the ongoing season and has scored valuable runs towards the end.

Their bowling mainly relies on the spin trio of Imran Tahir, Harbhajan Singh and Ravindra Jadeja who have been amongst the wickets throughout this IPL.

On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) dented Kings XI's chances of finishing in the top four after beating them by seven wickets in Mohali. Kings XI openers KL Rahul and Chris Gayle failed to score against KKR, a reason why they couldn't reach the 200-run mark in Mohali. However, Sam Curran's form is something which will give a lot of confidence to the Punjab-based franchise.

With 10 points from 13 games, Kings XI must win against CSK to end their campaign on a positive note. However, it wouldn't be an easy task for R. Ashwin's men to secure victory against a formidable and consistent CSK.

KXIP vs CSK: Dream 11 Top 6 Picks

The pitch at Mohali will be rather batsman friendly but since it is probably the biggest ground in the IPL, hitting sixes could be an issue here. Owing to this, it would be a good option to pick spinners from both the teams.

From CSK, pick Faf Du Plessis as he plays well on a big grounds and picks up doubles like it’s no mean feat. Also, Ambati Rayudu is due to fire this year and today could be his day on the Mohali pitch. As, he bats well against the spinners and would be the perfect way to get on R Ashwin’s nerves. Picking team skipper M S Dhoni would be a wise choice if he plays today. However, if Dhoni chooses to sit out, go for Imran Tahir he is bound to get at least a couple of wickets.

From Kings XI Punjab pick the man in form- KL Rahul. He is a consistent performer with a few tricks up his sleeve. Nicholas Pooran is also a good pick as he bats well against spin and he looked in good touch in the last match. Apart from these two go for the all round abilities of Sam Curran.
