The ICSE Class Xth results are out and it seems that it were the girls that shone the brightest in Delhi. The girls of Delhi have once again brought laureate to the state, 6 of the 7 toppers from Delhi are girls. Seven Delhi students scored all India second and third ranks with Shivika Dudani sharing the second rank with 24 others.

Even in the national count, 8 out of the 13 toppers are females. Also, this year the state's overall result improved by 2%, with government schools gaining an edge over private ones.

Shivika Dudani, a 15 year old resident from Lajpat Nagar scored a whopping 498 out of 500 in her class 10th examination. This made her the only person in Delhi with an All India second rank.

While Mallika Ajmani, Kalpana Kumari, Khushi Rawat, Sejal Saxena, Neha Jain and Arnav Singh from Delhi joined 59 others as the all India third rank holders.

Arnav was the only male from Delhi to have topped the country.

The short and long of it all

With aims such high and ideas such pious, it is no wonder that these girls have made a name for themselves as well as their families. It goes to prove that no matter how many hurdles and breaks you put in front of a girl, her will to achieve will break all patriarchy shackles.

You go girls!

Education is the only way out for most girls who have been buried under the heavy weing that the society has put on them. The fact of the matter is, that when we speak of empowerment we often forget about how necessary education is, especially for girls to find their way in this world. Which is why, the next time you hear about someone stopping their daughter from going to school or pursuing higher education, show them the results and maybe we'll have a society where equality pertains.
