If you are someone who loves stargazing, here’s a piece of excellent news for you. The Department of Science and Technology (DST), is all set to launch full moon tourism in Rajasthan, where visitors will be escorted to remote areas of the state to witness the clear sky and embrace the serene beauty of the night sky.
Boosting tourism in rural corners
The Rajasthan government is planning to use spots in the remotest corners of the state, with the least light pollution, to give people an opportunity to appreciate the moon, starts and planets which are generally not visible through the naked eye.
Giving a boost to rural tourism, the initiative will attracts tourists to the state, and also motivate the young generations to learn more about the unknown night sky.
Recently, Rajasthan had launched astro-sky tourism, becoming the first state in the country to do so. Under the initiative, the Rajasthan government has started organising camps in 33 districts and has received approval to purchase 38 telescopes. Out of these, four will be placed in Jaipur at Jantar-Mantar, Jawahar Kala Kendra, Amber Fort, and University of Maharaja, respectively.
These stations will become a place for natives and tourists to witness rare astronomical activities.
