After a successful virtual edition last year, the Jaipur Literature Festival is all set to come back in a super-hybrid avatar with both- an on-ground magnificence in Jaipur’s Hotel Clarks Amber and its nifty virtual presence. The on-ground version of the 15th edition of this glorious feast of literature, discourse and camaraderie is scheduled to take place between January 28 to February 1, 2022. However, the online version of this fest will continue till February 6.

Touted to be the ‘greatest literary show on Earth’, this iconic fest is a haven for literature lovers and festival-goers alike. Reportedly, all the Indian national languages and various foreign languages will be represented in the festival with more than 300 hours of programs. Additionally, as per reports, 250 speakers will grace the festival scheduled to take place next year.

Reportedly, the first list of 15 speakers from India and across the globe, was released on Monday. This includes, the National Book Award-winning author and 2002 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction finalist Jonathan Franzen; 2021 Booker Prize winner for his novel ‘The Promise’ Damon Galgut; Australian author and 2003 Booker Prize winner for his debut novel Vernon God Little DBC Pierre; Indian poet and author of the latest Women Who Wear Only Themselves, Arundhathi Subramaniam; Eminent art critic, art historian B.N. Goswamy; Writer and Director of the Vascular Cath Lab at Sir Ganga Ram hospital Dr. Ambarish Satwik; former Portuguese politician and author Bruno Maeees.
The list also includes bioarchaeologist and field archaeologist specialising in the Viking Age, Viking women and Rapa Nui Dr. Cat Jarman; Indian-born British writer, playwright and screenwriter Farrukh Dhondy; The Miniaturist and Kalkatta and a collection of stories titled The Japanese Wife Kunal Basu; Academic and author of Cultivating Democracy: Politics and Citizenship in Agrarian India Mukulika Banerjee; Member of parliament and author Dr. Shashi Tharoor; Debutant novelist of the latest Equations Shivani Sibal, Historian and author of three acclaimed books including the latest, Nehru: The Debates that Defined India Tripurdaman Singh; Historian and the author of four acclaimed books, with his latest being Savarkar: A Contested Legacy, 1924-1966 Vikram Sampath.

In line with the ‘new normal’, the 2022 version of the festival marks a new beginning with its offline and virtual presence after garnering over a crore views last year. In this ‘super’ hybrid version, part of the offline version is being organised with all the additional facilities to accommodate the public while strictly adhering to the COVID-19 safety protocols. Through this 10-day landmark hybrid edition, the Jaipur Literature Festival aims to widen its reach and duration. The online presence will ensure access to a wider audience while reaching out to the book-lovers of the world.
