As the number of leopards in Jaipur has touched a 100, wildlife enthusiasts are campaigning to get Jaipur officially declared as ‘Leopard Capital of the World’. As per reports, there are more than 45 leopards at Jaipur’s Jhalana Leopard Reserve alone and more than 20 leopards at the Amagarh Reserve. With a population of over 65 lakhs, Jaipur is setting a unique example for the word of how humans and wildlife can live in harmony.
State organisations like the Rajasthan Wildlife Board and Sariska Foundation from part of the campaign and make coordinated efforts. Apart from this, international organisations like International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and World Wilderness Congress are also advocating to make this dream a reality.
