The Health Minister of Rajasthan has ordered in-service private hospitals at Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur, Ajmer and Bikaner district headquarters, to reserve 30% of their beds for patients affected with COVID-19. This move is being put in place so that COVID-19 patients can be treated effectively, without struggling to find a bed for their treatment.
1,24,730 confirmed cases in Rajasthan; 1,412 fatalities in all
Out of 1,24,730 confirmed cases in Rajasthan, Jaipur has contributed 19,426 corona cases to the aforementioned figure, as of today. The death toll in the state has risen to 1,412 whereas Jaipur has documented 316 expiries- the highest amidst the other districts in Rajasthan.
The State Health Minister, Dr. Sharma mentioned that the role of government and private hospitals in the state during the corona period was praiseworthy but still there are a few big private hospitals who are not treating the corona patients. He further added that the private hospitals with bed capacity of 80 beds or more in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota and Udaipur district headquarters will have to keep 30% of their beds reserved for corona patients. But in the Ajmer and Bikaner districts, the infirmaries with a capacity of 60 beds, will have to do so.
The Health Minister stated that all such private hospitals following the COVID-19 protocols as issued by the authorities, will have to treat corona patients in a separate ward within the hospital premises, in order to tackle the spread of the disease. The Health Department principal secretary, using the Rajasthan Epidemic Ordinance, had issued these orders to private hospitals on Friday.
